The UAE audio-visual media is shifting quickly into a higher gear in both, the number of players, contents and presentation formats. Such changes mean that UAE audio-visual media has entered into a state of brisk evolution.

 

Pan Arab Research Center [PARC] is pleased to announce the release of UAE TV and Radio Survey - Summer 2004, which captures the pulse of the UAE audio-visual scene at a junction many expect it to be a turning point.

 

The survey offers a full coverage of the audio-visual media exposure habits of adult Arabs and presents the audio-visual ratings by 15 minutes time segments providing a comprehensive database of the audio-visual media in the United Arab Emirates. 

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY:

 

q       TELEVISION

·       Overall frequency of TV Viewing

·       Frequency of watching TV by Day-Parts

·       Type of TV broadcast accessed at home

·       Channels received at home: Local, Regional, International and Pay-TV

 

·       Viewership patterns of channels received at home:

-       Frequency of watching

-       Recency of last time viewing

-       Viewership on an average day of the week

·      Reconstruction of TV viewing schedules on an average day of the week

-       15 minutes time segments

-       Television channels

 

 

q       RADIO

·      Overall frequency of listening to Radio

·      Frequency of listening to Radio by Day-Parts

·      Frequency of listening to each station

·      Recency of last time listened to each station

·      Reconstruction of radio listenership on an average day of the week by:

-          15 minutes segments

-          Radio stations

 

 

 

The survey was conducted over the telephone using CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing) amongst the Arabs, males and females aged 15 years and above, of all socio-economic segments.

 

The total sample (n=1360) interviews. Fieldwork was conducted in the period of 6th July 2004 – 26th July 2004. 

 

Results have been weighted to represent the current structure of the adult Arab population in the country. The study covers all local TV channels, Pan Arab satellite channels and global satellite stations.

 

The results are analyzed in the form of statistical tables by major socio-economic factors such as age, gender, family structure, family income, occupation, area and other variables, and by day of the week.


 

Data & Software

 

Fully processed data is available in statistical tabulations hosted in the PARC Index Software.  All data elements are accessible and can be used for Media Planning.

·         PARC Qrystar the unique Query System for Television audience Research and Analysis Software to help the user examine the programs cube across stations, time, and ratings data.
